The parking lot for a new restaurant is going to have 55 parking spaces. If each row can have 15 parking spaces, how many rows will the parking lot need?

Divide the number of parking spaces by the number of spaces in each row.

Now think about the remainder. The answer is either 3 or 4.

Multiply:

15 × 3 = 45

15 × 4 = 60

3 rows (45 parking spaces) is not enough. 4 rows (60 parking spaces) is correct. The parking lot will need 4 parking spaces.
